Once a year, Columbia County Bounty presents a food event that no self-respecting gourmand can miss. More than just a fundraiser, this dinner matches the area’s best chefs with produce from the area’s best farms. Held at the Columbia County Fairground in Chatham, locavores can “taste” over forty different recipes – from main courses to salads, breads and desserts. There are even local wines, ales, and organic roasted coffees. Going back for seconds – and even thirds – isn’t unusual.

Congratulations to Mike McKay of Hudson and Kyle Lewis of Greenville on winning their license class at Ginsberg’s first-ever Drivers’ Rodeo on June 5, 2010. The Drivers’ Rodeo contest was based on off the International Foodservice Distributors Association’s National Food Industry Truck Driving Championship, a competition that highlights and rewards safe and excellent driving skills. The drivers had to complete a written test, perform a truck pre-trip inspection, drive through an eight-stage obstacle course, and were graded on each section. McKay won the overall competition and will represent Ginsberg’s at the annual IFDA Truck Driving Championship in September in Orlando, Florida.

December 2008 - Ginsberg’s is welcoming the new year with a lucrative new contract with Restaurant Operators Cooperative (ROC). We have recently signed a contract projected to be worth $15 million annually. ROC is a cooperative of restaurants, diners, country clubs and hotels located mostly in the capital region. ROC previously had a contract with Ginsberg’s nine years ago and we have both grown substantially since then. The cooperative was worth about a $5 million then, compared to $15 million today. Ginsberg’s has grown even faster, expanding from $35 million to $113 million in the same time according to Suzanne Rajczi, Ginsberg’s Vice-President of Merchandising. “We believe in the philosophy of doing business with independents. It’s important for us to be two steps ahead of these chains and keep these independent restaurants successful and profitable,” Rajczi said. Ginsberg’s started, as a family owned grocery store in Hudson, and will be celebrating 100 years of business in 2009.
